She has taught in the Department of Film Literature, Beijing Film Academy. She is currently Professor at the Institute of Comparative Literature and Culture, Peking University, Director of the Center for Film and Cultural Studies at Peking University, and Doctoral Supervisor. She is also an Adjunct Professor in the Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures, The Ohio State University, and has served as Visiting Professor at dozens of universities in the United States, Europe, Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Her research covers film studies, feminist literature and popular culture. Several of her monographs have been translated into multiple languages and published. She hosts numerous film dialogue events and courses, and is highly respected by students and cinephiles across China.
