Many of his works are politically engaged: the composer is a political activist, member and leader of the PSOL (Socialism and Freedom Party). Among his main works in this line, the opera Olga, the Elegia Violeta para Monsenhor Romero and the Sinfonia das Diretas (Sinfonia das Buzinas) stand out, the production of which is reported in detail in the film.
