A Public Relations graduate of the National Ribat University, she worked in public relations across several African countries before turning to acting. The film won the Lion of the Future award at the Venice International Film Festival and the Golden Star at El Gouna Film Festival, and became Sudan's first-ever submission for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film.
